Salary hike calculation looks simple, but many employees confuse hike on CTC with hike in monthly in-hand salary. A 30% hike on Rs 10 lakh CTC does not mean your bank credit increases by exactly 30%, because PF, gratuity, bonus structure and TDS can also change.

Use Salary Hike CalculatorSalary Hike Formula
New Salary = Current Salary + (Current Salary x Hike % / 100)Quick examples:
- 10% hike on Rs 8 lakh = Rs 80,000 increase, new salary Rs 8.8 lakh
- 20% hike on Rs 10 lakh = Rs 2 lakh increase, new salary Rs 12 lakh
- 30% hike on Rs 12 lakh = Rs 3.6 lakh increase, new salary Rs 15.6 lakh
- 50% hike on Rs 15 lakh = Rs 7.5 lakh increase, new salary Rs 22.5 lakh
Why In-Hand Salary May Increase Less Than CTC
Your CTC includes fixed salary, employer PF, gratuity, insurance and sometimes variable pay. Your in-hand salary is after employee PF, professional tax and TDS. So after a hike, use the CTC to in-hand salary calculator to check the real monthly impact.
Appraisal vs Job Switch Hike
Typical practical ranges in India:
- Annual appraisal: often 6% to 15%
- High performer appraisal: 15% to 25%
- Job switch: often 20% to 50%
- Niche skill or leadership role: can be higher, but compare fixed pay and variable pay carefully
How to Compare Two Salary Offers
Before accepting an offer, compare:
- Fixed CTC, not only total CTC
- Variable pay probability
- Monthly in-hand salary
- Employer PF and gratuity treatment
- Joining bonus clawback terms
- Tax regime impact on TDS
Frequently Asked Questions
Multiply current salary by 30/100. For Rs 10 lakh salary, 30% hike is Rs 3 lakh and new salary is Rs 13 lakh.
Most companies communicate hike on CTC or fixed CTC. Some components such as PF and gratuity are derived from basic salary, so the final in-hand increase may differ.
A 20% to 50% hike is common in many Indian job switches, depending on skills, role demand and current salary. Compare fixed pay and monthly in-hand before deciding.
